Continuing with their healthy tradition of writing music that stays on the in-between, The John Henrys announce the release of their third album
White Linen March 23, 2010 (Linus Entertainment). In support of 'White Linen,' The John Henrys will join forces with the recent Juno Nominee duo Madison Violet and will embark on a 22 date tour starting in Ontario that will weave its way out to Vancouver this May!
The John Henrys who first made their dent in the music industry with their previous album Sweet As The Grain gained immediate comparisons to the likes of Neil Young, The Band and Tom Petty. Their new album White Linen features 11 tracks all recorded to analog tape including a Side A which contains influences of the city and Side B that reflects stories from the country. Creating a sound that draws from alt-country, Americana, jam band and straight up rock n roll, White Linen takes on songs about betrayal, pain and just moving through life. “Patriot” tells the story of a battle between the Patriot Hunters and the 38th regiment of the British Infantry in 1838 that happened beside a windmill (that is now a lighthouse) located in Prescott, Ontario.
Madison Violet, who just received a Juno Nomination for Roots & Traditional Album of the Year.
Madison Violet, has been touring around the world in support of their recent album 'No Fool For Trying'. They have garnered five star reviews from the UK to the USA, that highlights Brenley and Lisa’s exquisite harmonies framed around traditional folk music and adds a decidedly Appalachian Mountain touch through the use of fiddle, mandolin and banjo. In 2009 they won Vocal Group of the Year at the Canadian Folk Music Awards and have also received nominations at the 2010 East Coast Music Awards and a grand prize win in the Folk category of the second round of the 2009 John Lennon Songwriting contest for their song "Ransom."
